Thais Read 2 Hours Daily: Half Over 50 Prefer E-books for Enlarged Fonts
The Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (Pubat) conducted a survey with Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Psychology, revealing Thais spend nearly 2 hours daily reading.
Over half of Thais aged over 50 prefer e-books due to adjustable font sizes.
The Thai book market has seen significant growth this year, according to Pubat's secretary-general Teeranai Sottipinta.
The survey was based on responses from 2,550 people across Thailand in January and February.
The text reveals that Thai readers spend an average of 113 minutes per day reading books.
Among young adults aged 12-19, textbooks and test preparation books are the most popular, making up 72% of their reading.
For adults aged 20-29, 30-39, and 40-49, self-improvement books are the top choice, accounting for 52%, 57%, and 51% of their reading, respectively.
Approximately half of all age groups enjoy reading books, and about the same percentage (47%) prefer e-books.
Notably, 58% of readers aged 50 and above prefer e-books due to the ability to enlarge font sizes.
