6.55 Million Traveled by Train During Songkran Holidays: A 21.22% Increase
Approximately 6.55 million individuals utilized trains for their travel plans during the six-day Songkran holiday season in Thailand, marking a significant increase of 21.22% compared to the same timeframe in the previous year, as reported by the Department of Rail Transport.
Yesterday, which was the last day of the Songkran long holidays, saw 793,018 people using trains, although this figure was 10.55% lower than the projected numbers.
Within Bangkok and its surrounding areas, a total of 6,071,358 individuals relied on electric trains, including those on the Green, Blue, Gold, Yellow, Pink, Red, and Purple lines, as well as the Airport Link.
In contrast, the State Railway of Thailand served 485,323 people during the same period.
